Drummindoo Stud
Knockranny, Westport, County Mayo, Ireland
Tel: 00 353 98 25616 Email: drummindoo@anu.ie
At Drummindoo we have been standing stallions for many years (the stud itself was established in 1963 by Paddy Joe and Patricia Foy). Some stallions we have stood here include the famous Connemara ''Carna Dun'', the Thoroughbred ''Fast Frigate'' and The Irish Draught ''Shuttlecock'' to name but a few.
Our stud has won awards in the Bord na gCapall Best Run Stud Farm on two occasions. Our stallions have brought home the Croker Cup from the RDS twice, in 1984 with ''Fast Frigate'' and in 2004 with ''Spirit House''.
Our priority is to get mares in foal and with this in mind we use artificial insemination when possible (natural service is also available). We have experienced increased conception rates using A.I. and it is less stressful for the mare and less expensive for the owner ie. no livery or transport. We collect semen from our stallions on a daily basis and it is available nationwide by courier.
If necessary we can provide livery for mares and our vetinary surgeon is available for scanning.
We invite you to view our stallions. If you would like to visit please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kylemore Rocky CP, 1990, bay, 14.2hh.

Sire: Kimble Abbeyleix Owen Queen of Diamonds Dam: Rebel Wind Dewdrop Snowdrop
Kylemore Rocky (above) was 2nd in the Performance Test for Registered Connemara Pony Stallions in 1995. A quality performance pony, true to type with a temperament second to none which we are proud to say he is passing on to his progeny. He is descended from Connemara Boy (Red Line) on his dam's side and Cannonball (Blue Line) on his sire's side. These were the first two stallion lines established in the breed.
His stock are in great demand, have featured in the top price bracket in sales and have been exported worldwide.
Due to his solid colour we can guarantee that any Connemara mare who breeds with him will not produce a blue eyed cream. He is also an ideal cross for lighter mares or Thoroughbred mares due to his strength, bone (8.5 ins), conformation, super paces and movement to produce quality athletic performers. As he is bay in colour we can guarantee that any mare bred with him will not produce a blue eyed cream foal.
Fee for 2011 is €200

Clewbay Bouncer (above) was approved in December 2008 by the Irish Horse Board after undergoing Central Performance Testing. He is a very exciting prospect for the Irish Draught breeder as he is a complete outcross (no King of Diamonds breeding) and will make a welcome contribution to the Irish Draught genetic pool.
We purchased him at the sales in Cavan as a yearling. He was shown lightly as a 2 year old, winning his class and the Junior Championship at the National Irish Draught Show in Mullingar. He is a very good model with long floating movement. His conformation is excellent and he possesses good bone (9 ins). All this and a superb temperament and tremendous presence. His first crop of foals are yearlings this year and we are delighted to say that he is passing on all attributes to his progeny. So this really is one to watch for the future.
Fee for 2011 is €300
